Bryce’s parents tell us he came out of surgery this morning after doctors put rods in both his legs. They say he also has a broken nose and pelvis and swelling in his brain. Manning is trying to talk, but there’s no telling how long it will take for him to recover.
MOBILE August 26: According to the Mobile Police Department, a teenager was struck by a drunk driver last night on Dauphin Island Parkway.
The teen’s aunt has told WKRG the teen’s name is Bryce Manning, a graduate from Alma-Bryant High School who had recently enlisted in the Army National Guard.
61-year-old Sandra Wetzel was arrested by Mobile Police and charged with driving under the influence.
Manning was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Wetzel has since been released from Mobile Metro Jail.
The incident happened Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Staples Road and Wiggins Drive, which is near Dauphin Island Parkway.
