PRICHARD, AL (WKRG) — An elderly man is dead after witnesses say he was stabbed in the throat while sitting in his car in Prichard.
Prichard Police have confirmed the stabbing fatality and say the suspect Jeremy Norwood is in custody.
Witnesses say the victim — believed to be in his eighties — was sitting in his car outside Ridge Manor Apartments on Wolf Ridge Road when another man approached and knocked on the window around 7:30am. The victim rolled down his driver-side window and was stabbed in the throat, witnesses tell News 5.
Witnesses say it appeared to be a random act of violence. The victim, who is yet to be identified to the media, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Early reports suggest the suspect — a man in his thirties — might be mentally ill. We are working to confirm that information.
