A 90-year-old man robbed and fatally shot was a World War 2 Veteran.
Booker Green was killed after he was robbed by four people last month on Patton Avenue. Police said one of the suspects was carrying a gun.
News 5 learned of Green’s military record from local Military historian Eddie Irby. Irby said Green was a Buffalo Soldier and was also a soldier for the Red Ball Express, charged with delivering supplies during World War 2.
“Mr. Green was a supply coordinator, and so if Patton sent word back there to Mr. Green that I need this then it was done,” said Irby.
Police arrested four people in connection to the crime, all are charged with murder.
Green’s funeral will be Saturday at St. Louis Street Baptist Church.
