ROBERTSDALE, AL – Police say two teenagers used cars, trucks, and SUV’s driving on County Road 56 in Robertsdale as BB gun target practice.
The boys used a CO 2 cartridge powered BB pistol to shoot out the windows of at least four vehicles.
The BB gun is realistic. It looks like a real firearm. The situation could be deadly if the kids pointed the BB gun at responding police officers.
“This weapon if pulled on an officer in a tense situation could very easily be responded by deadly force,” says Lt. Rex Bishop with the Robertsdale Police Dept. “There’s no way an officer can look at that gun in a split second and determine whether it’s real or not.”
The BB pistol is now evidence in a juvenile criminal investigation. The 14 and 16-year-old boys have been charged with throwing or shooting into an occupied vehicle.
