President Obama and Gov. Rick Scott corresponded in a phone conference today about the development of the Zika virus in Florida.
Obama said he’s proud of Scott and the state’s aggressive response to local outbreaks of mosquito-borne viruses like Zika. He’s been working with the Department of Health and Human Services as well as the Center for Disease Control.
The CDC anticipates that later this week, it will aware Florida $5.6 million in grants to fight Zika. Florida Department of Health suspects that the state has its first case of non-travel related Zika as of Wednesday.
