The Dauphin Island Sea Lab needs help finding an important piece of equipment missing from near Middle Bay Lighthouse.
The futuristic-looking green box actually reports waves and currents for the bay in real-time at www.mymobilebay.com.
“We believe it may have accidentally been snagged by a trawler,” Renee Collini, Northern Gulf of Mexico Sentinel Site Cooperative Coordinator, said. “It appears it was initially snagged sometime on or after June 16. It is possible that it may have been hit multiple times if it somehow got deposited in a high-traffic area.”
Collini says that any information about where the device broke lose or where it might be now will be helpful. You can contact Collini at 251-861- 2141 ext 7546 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The housing is a lime green color and is roughly 3ft x 2ft x 2ft and the housing might have writing on it referencing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – a partner in the project.
