Fire crews are battling a brush fire this afternoon on Deakle Road near Bellingrath Road in south Mobile County.
At this time, the fire spans 36 acres and crews are bringing in a bulldozer to cut a fire break line in hopes of containing the fire. The fire is an area filled with mud so crews will depend on the fire break to contain the blaze.
Crews from Alabama Forestry Commission, Theodore Volunteer Fire Department and the Fowl River Volunteer Fire Department are on the scene.
When the fire first broke this afternoon, Exxon Mobil had concerns that the fire would reach a production site nearby. Luckily, the wind is blowing the fire in another direction.
At this time, no structures are in danger.
