Prichard, AL — WKRG
Beloved Prichard business owner Cozy Brown is slowly getting his life back to normal. Two weeks ago he was shot fighting back against an armed robbery outside his restaurant.
“I think it was about 4-5 shots fired and one of them hit me in the stomach,” said Cozy Brown while recounting his brush with death from two weeks ago. He said a little prayer before fighting back against an armed robber.
“Anytime you’re a child of God you can overpower a child of Satan,” said Brown. He has been making a slow transition back to work he’s working part-time. Brown hopes to be doing full time once he’s healed and people here are just happy to see him at all. He was greeted with applause and hugs when he walked into the dining area Friday morning. It’s taken Brown awhile to get back on his feet.
He spent days in the hospital. At first cozy said he was bitter–not about getting shot–but upset the robber would hit him repeatedly on the head. Brown says once he let go of his bitterness God let him out of the hospital.
“I don’t want no revenge I’m not looking for who did it, vengeance will have to belong to God and I have to stand on that,” said Brown. As he gets back to work, Brown hopes what happened to him sends a message to kids on the wrong path to get their lives in order.
“This is just not the way this is not the way of life and people need to try to change one thing that I do know is we’re going to have to do something about these guns on the street,” said Brown. Regulars hope the case is closed soon.
“If that person doesn’t come forward someone is going to find it, if you did it come forward because you shot a good man,” said friend Harold McWilliams.
