An 18-year-old accused of shooting and killing another teen last week pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
TeAndre Kimbrough was arraigned Wednesday morning. He is accused of killing 18-year-old Jeffery Ford last week at the Thomas Sullivan Community Center. Police said the incident was over an ongoing dispute between the two.
Kimbrough was arrested the following day.
His parents said when they found out about the incident the helped turn him into authorities. While they feel it was the right decision, it was not an easy one.
“It was a hard thing to do because nobody wants their child in this kind of situation so sometimes the right decision doesn’t always seem like the right decision,” said Duane Woodward, Teandre’s father. “and you try to get your kids out of harm’s way and right at that moment we knew that the best thing that we can do is turn himself in so we could get him off of the streets.
Kimbrough is set to be back in court August 11 for a preliminary hearing.
