Next Tuesday (May 17), American Airlines will receive its first Airbus A-321 aircraft produced in the United States at the facility in Mobile, Alabama.
The delivery is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the Ceremony Room of the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility Delivery Center at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.
Top officials from both companies will be on hand, but the event is not open to the public. Officials from American Airlines include Bob Lekites, the Executive Vice President of Customers, and David Seymour, the Vice President of Integrated Operations. Daryl Taylor, the vice president and general manager of Mobile-based Airbus facility, will also be on hand.
American Airlines operates the world’s largest fleet of Airbus aircraft, especially the A321. The next eight planes produced at the Mobile facility will be delivered to American Airlines.
By the end of the year, Airbus hopes to ramp up production at the Mobile facility and plans to produce four planes per month.
