The doctors we spoke with for this week’s edition “What’s Going Around” are seeing everything from coughs and colds to the stomach bug.
At the Grove Hill Medical Center patients are coming in complaining of a cough, cold, and congestion. Dr. Ralph Neal is also seeing a virus going around that brings fever.
In Washington County– at the Millry Pediatric Clinic– it seems strep throat is still going around.
And in the Mobile area– Dr. Darren Waters says patients are coming into the Greater Mobile Urgent Care offices with gastroenteritis. Dr. Waters says the only treatment for the stomach bug is fluids and antiemetics, and drugs like Zofran and Phenergan that help with vomiting and nausea. Remember– if you aren’t able to keep fluids down you may need an IV so you don’t get dehydrated. Along with gastroenteritis, Dr. Waters says his offices are still seeing scattered cases of influenza and pneumonia.
