Montgomery Police Officer Arrested on Sexual Assault Charge

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – A Montgomery police officer has been arrested and charged with second-degree sodomy in connection with a sexual assault.

A court affidavit says 23-year-old Morris Leon Williams is charged with sexually assaulting an adult woman unable to consent “by reason of being mentally defective.”

Montgomery Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman Martha Earnhardt said in a statement that police have initiated disciplinary proceedings against Williams. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail on a $30,000 bond. It wasn’t known Wednesday whether he has an attorney.

Williams is the second Montgomery police officer arrested this week: 22-year-old G.T. Farris was arrested Tuesday and charged with fleeing a crash scene, a felony. Farris resigned from the force.
