British health and safety worker Ben Innes, 26, was aboard the EgyptAir flight hijacked by a man in the middle of a domestic dispute with his wife earlier this week.
He told a British newspaper that initially he was “very scared” but then he went sort of numb.
“I’m not sure why I did it, I just threw caution to the wind while trying to stay cheerful in the face of adversity,” he told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “We were sitting around waiting. I thought, ‘Why not? If he blows us all up it won’t matter anyway.”
So he took a picture with Seif Eldin Mustafa.
It has more than 1,000 retweets and various replied, some praising and some shaming Innes.
