ORANGE BEACH, AL- The Alabama Dept. of Transportation will spend 20 million dollars on a median improvements and beautification project in Orange Beach.
When Phase 1 is finished, the project will transform Perdido Beach Boulevard from five lanes of asphalt to a landscaped, highway with a median.
The median will eliminate random left turns and only allow drivers to turn at newly designed and controlled traffic signals.
Orange Beach is partnering with ALDOT. The city will pay for the landscaping portion of the median project.
Construction could being in October and should be finished by Spring Break 2017.
