The first A-321 built at the Airbus Assembly Plant in Mobile took to the air at 9:35 am today.
The jetliner, which will be delivered to JetBlue, took off in front of a line of media stretched along the runway at Brookley Field.
Revving it’s twin engines, the A-321 lifted off the runway for a 3-hour test flight over the Gulf of Mexico.
The test pilots will put the jet through its paces, thoroughly checking all of the flight systems.
Once the jetliner is checked out, it will be delivered to JetBlue as the first A-321 assembled in North America.
