Rapellers Go “Over The Edge” in Support of Local Charities

65 volunteers are in Mobile are going “Over the Edge” to support local charities.

The “Over the Edge” event is being put on by the 74 Club and Dennis Langan Construction. They’re challenging people to rappel down 20 stories of the Marriott hotel near the corner of Airport and Bel Air Boulevards in Mobile to raise money for local charities.

Prichard Mayor Troy Ephriam, Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson, were just some of the local media and community members who came Friday to help get the word out.

“We are going to give the proceeds today and tomorrow to 7 local charities, and we’re just shy of $90,000 as of this morning, and we’re ready to go,” Randy Copeland, Event Chair.

Day 2, Saturday is open to anyone who can raise $1,000. The money will go towards local non-profits, St. Mary’s Home, Woody’s Song, Mobile Arc, McKemie Place, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, The Exchange Club, and The Abba Shrine Children’s Transportation Fund.

The goal is to raise $100,000.
