The Mayor’s chief of staff is responding to criticism thrown his way by members of the City Council.
Both John Williams and Fred Richardson said Colby Cooper has been difficult to work with. Richardson went as far as to call Cooper a ‘Bully.’
Cooper sat down with News 5 Friday to address the concerns.
“I’m not a bully. Not at all. I am a passionate person who wants Mobile to succeed,” said Cooper. “I may have a style that some people are irritated by or are uncomfortable with but I can tell you certainly that I immerse myself in this city every single day and there is not one city councilor that I am not willing to work with.”
Cooper apologized for hurting any feelings, but says his job is to be Mayor Stimpson’s ‘Fiercest Defender’
“I’ll be the first one to say if I need to be the one to take the arrows, I’m going to do it for the sake of Mobile and for the sake of Mayor Stimpson and so it doesn’t bother me when that comes,” said Cooper.
