Mobile’s own Sam Beall dead in ski accident

Sam Beall has died in a skiing accident.

Sam Beall, 39, was killed in a tragic ski accident in Colorado on Thursday according to Blackberry Farm, which Beall operated.

“The Beall family and the Blackberry Farm team are understandably shocked by this heartbreaking news about the man they loved dearly as a son, brother, father, friend and host. They welcome the thoughts and prayers of all those whose lives were touched by Sam’s hospitable nature, visionary leadership and adventurous spirit,” the farm said in a statement.

Beall graduated from UMS-Wright in Mobile in 1995 and is well-known for his luxury resort, Blackberry Farm, located in Tennessee near the Smoky Mountains.

Beall grew up in the restaurant world, in which his father founded the popular franchise Ruby Tuesday.

Various people including Lance Armstrong and Dave Ramsey lamented Beall’s death via social media, calling Beall a great man and a great father. Beall leaves behind a wife, also of Mobile, and five children.
