Mobile County Sheriff’s deputies literally sniffed out a drug bust on Interstate 10 this morning.
Deputies were assisting Alabama State Troopers when they noticed the smell of marijuana coming from one of the vehicles.
The two people inside the vehicle, 23-year-old Mario Longoria and 21-year-old Katherin Valencia, were questioned.
Deputies found drugs and weapons including an M-4 and an AK-47 assault rifle, a .45 caliber handgun, nearly 500 Xanax pills, 50 grams of marijuana, codeine cough syrup, mushrooms and $800 in cash.
Longoria and Valencia are charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana-1st degree and possession and use of drug paraphernalia.The suspects told investigators they were traveling from New Orleans.
Both listed Fort Myers, Florida as their place of residence.
