EUTAW, Ala. (WIAT)– One person is dead, and two others critically injured after a shooting Saturday afternoon at Greenetrack in Eutaw.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting, with assistance from ALEA. Lt. Jeremy Rancher with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office would not go into detail as to what happened, or release a motive at this time, but did say of the two critically injured, one was shot and the other received undisclosed injuries. The person shot was able to drive to a nearby gas station.
Rancher would not say if the shooting occurred inside the track, or in the parking lot. The name of the victim has not been released.
Tonight, Greenetrack released this statement:
“Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Greenetrack. A security guard was injured protecting customers and employees. He was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Greene County Sheriff Department, the District Attorney for the 17th Judicial District, and the Alabama Bureau of Investigations. All questions should be directed to those agencies.”
The release goes on to say the track will reopen Sunday morning.
