Dick’s Sporting Goods, Academy Sports and other spots were jumping with Alabama fans this morning. Many were ready to drop a lot of money on team gear.
“My son walked on for Alabama in 2001 and I’ve been buying ever since and we are a roll tide dynasty,” said Wanda Henderson. She said she was ready to spend at least $300 on championship gear. Shira Bell stopped by Academy last night after the game but was once again in Dick’s Sporting Goods Tuesday morning ready to throw down more dough on Alabama garb.
“Oh wow, probably about $200-$300,” said Bell. “We spent $400 last night so yeah.” It’s no big deal for many of these Alabama fans. The absence of a national title in Alabama for the last three years may help sales.
“So it’s been hectic between both of the stores in the area,” said Academy manager LaRon Nobles.
