Mobile and Pensacola rang in the New Year in their own unique ways.
For the ninth year, Mobile hosted the Moon Pie Drop downtown, with the giant marshmallow pie being lowered to the ground at the stroke of midnight.
Light rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands who came out to welcome 2016.
Mobile’s celebration culminated with a fireworks display over the skyline and a laser light show illuminating several buildings downtown.
Fireworks also marked the New Year in Pensacola with a huge display over Palafox Street.
Both cities anticipated crowds of 50,000 for their celebrations.
Mobile’s included a Second Line procession led by the Excelsior Brass Band.
Pensacola’s included a kid-friendly area for the youngsters to enjoy earlier in the day.
