A video has emerged showing a Memphis football player’s questionable behavior after the Birmingham Bowl, and now the player has been kicked off the team. Auburn beat Memphis 31-10, but a move by senior cornerback Reggis Ball is becoming the talk on social media. Reggis Ball (#39) got into a scuffle with an Auburn equipment staffer. He grabbed a game ball and then ran off the field. Ball played well for Memphis during the game. He made two interceptions and a defensive touchdown. Here is the statement by the athletic director at Memphis:
“I want to personally apologize to Jay Jacobs, Gus Malzahn, the Auburn football team, its fans and the Birmingham Bowl for the highly-inappropriate actions of one of my student-athletes regarding a game ball at the end of Wednesday’s game. This player’s actions are totally unacceptable. He has been immediately removed from the team and we will continue to move swiftly in addressing what occurred.
I consulted with University of Memphis President M. David Rudd and have spoken to both incoming head coach Mike Norvell and interim head coach Darrell Dickey and they completely support my decision.” – Tom Bowen, Memphis Athletic Director.
