Mobile Police have identified the man and woman killed in Monday’s murder-suicide on Old Dobbin Road.
Investigators say 44-year-old Leo Jones was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police say he killed 41-year-old Denisha Jones, who was found deceased of multiple gunshot wounds.
Leo Jones and Denisha Jones were said to be “separated and going through a bitter divorce,” the press release said.
As we reported on Monday, tactical units with Mobile Police stormed the house after responded to a report of shots fired within the residence. Inside they discovered the bodies of the two victims.
More than fifty family members and friends of the victims gathered at the scene. News 5 is told they received “goodbye phone calls” from one of the victims moments before the murder-suicide took place.
A 7-year-old girl was found outside the home. Mobile Police say the young girl was inside the house around the time of the murder-suicide. Neighbors on scene say she is the daughter of the couple who lived in the home. We’re also told the young girl has three older siblings.
The bodies were seen being discretely removed from the garage of the home in an effort to not further upset members of the family. After the removal of the bodies, four family members entered the home with police.
A group of about a dozen people claiming to be family of the victims were seen crying outside the house after being interviewed by police.
