A plan to develop land for a high-tech business park will move forward in Daphne.
The city council voted 4-3 on the controversial project Monday night.
Officials want to buy the land on highway 181 and champions way near Daphne High School.
The council voted to approve the use of about $430,000 dollars from the city’s BP Oil Spill funds to help purchase the land.
“It is a very unique product that can advance the quality of life that we have here and make sure that we create a daytime population and some funding to fill the city coffers with business that complements our community and plays on our strengths,” said Mayor Dane Haygood.
However, some council member opposing the plan were concerned about its location next to homes and if the property would end up being used for something else.
