Preps are underway for the SEC Football Championship Game in Atlanta. Crews at the Georgia Dome started working on the field, where Florida and Alabama will do battle on Saturday. Logos for the SEC were painted Monday on the 50-yard line. Big buckets of blue, yellow and red were used in the first phase of field painting.
Both teams have a long history of playing for the SEC Championship title. Florida has played eleven times, Alabama ten times followed by Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee with five visits to the SEC Championship game a piece.
The George Dome will have plenty of seats for Alabama and Florida fans, but capacity is smaller than Bryant-Denny Stadium, Jordan-Hare Stadium and the “Swamp” in Gainesville, Florida.
Here’s the capacity of the Georgia Dome:
- 8 Super Suites
- 164 executive suites
- Penthouse Suite
- 4,600 club seats
- The Dome’s permanent seating capacity – 71,250
- Three times the code-required number of restrooms
- A pair of C-5 military transport planes could fit on the Georgia Dome’s floor – 102,000 square feet of space.
The SEC Football Championship Game will air on WKRG News 5 at 3:00 p.m
