The Salvation Army is generally a busy place in Mobile. This morning it’s a little bit more busy. The Salvation Army opened its cold weather shelter. That means they pulled out an extra cots and beds for people to have a warm place to sleep and something to eat. That’s on top of the roughly 150 people that are usually here for various programs. Officials here say the need in Mobile is big.
“It’s incredible, I would say on any given night you can have more than 600 homeless, the Salvation Army has limits, we can max out around 300 but that’s still just small slice so there is a big need in our community,” said Public Relations Director Kevontae Smalls.
The Salvation Army was busy this weekend and they’ll continue to be busy this week. The Salvation Army is getting ready for one of its biggest event of the year, the annual Thanksgiving meal.
