Baldwin County Schools Will See Upgrades, Additions

Elberta Middle School
Big changes could be on the way at schools in Elberta.

BAY MINETTE, AL- Through cost savings and budget cuts, the Baldwin County Board of Education has secured 15.5 million dollars for school additions, campus expansions and improvements.

Several schools are positioned to get new wings, cafeterias and campus upgrades.

The town of Elberta would get its own high school under the Pay As You Go plan which would alleviate over-crowding at Foley High.

To make Elberta High a reality, 4th, 5th and 6th graders would be moved to Elberta Elementary. The middle school would become the high school, accommodating students in grades 7-12.

Construction on some projects could begin next year.

Here’s a quick look at the Pay As You Go list:

-Elsanor Elementary: 10 room addition

-Central Baldwin Middle: 14 room addition

-Fairhope High- 20 room addition, new cafeteria addition

-Elberta Elementary: 14 room addition/high school configuration

-Robertsdale High: new cafeteria addition
