FAIRHOPE- Police say a man suspected of burglarizing on multiple occasions is now in the Baldwin County jail. On October 19, an officer saw the suspect, Joshua Comer of Mobile, sitting inside a vehicle at the Eastern Shore Shopping Center. After talking with the suspect, the officers developed probable cause to believe that Comer had broken into a vending machine at the location and had stolen money. Investigators say he was in possession of a crow bar and gloves.
Comer was arrested for possession of burglar’s tools, theft of property, and criminal mischief. He was booked in to the Fairhope Municipal Jail and later transferred to the Baldwin County Corrections Center.
Investigators say Comer may be responsible for as many as six additional thefts and nine attempted thefts from other vending machines in surrounding jurisdictions. Additionally, investigators are learning of similar vending machine thefts in the region which may be linked and they are verifying case facts to see if they are related.
If anyone has information on similar offenses involving recent thefts from vending machines, they are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Fairhope Police Department at (251) 928-2385.
