Around the Web: Alabama’s Cigar Tradition

Our sister station in Birmingham WIAT put together this cool little story about the tradition of cigars after the Alabama-Tennessee game.  It dates back to Alabama trainer Jim Goostree.  He gave cigars to players after a win against Tennessee way back in the 1950’s.  The owner of a Tuscaloosa smoke shop says the post-game cigar is sometimes the only thing certain Alabama fans smoke all year.

We stay on the theme of football with this cute story out of Minnesota.  Two MSU students got married during halftime of a home game.  I misread the story on air.  They weren’t members of the band but the marching band planned their show around the wedding.
