When Uber came to Mobile in June many people weren’t sure what to expect.
We talked to Mobile’s first Uber driver, Dennis, who says that his business is booming. He gives approximately 25 rides per week and he’s given over 500 rides since he started on June 11th.
Most of his business, he says, comes from young people heading downtown on Friday and Saturday nights which he thinks this is great because it is reducing the number of drunk drivers on the road.
Although young adults make up a majority of his business he also gets weekly requests from elderly people who are unable to drive. He drives many elderly men and women to their doctors visits.
Dennis thinks that Uber is here to stay in Mobile and says that it only continues to grow.
