According to the tracking site, GasBuddy.com, prices in the Mobile area are now under $1.80 a gallon. WKRG News 5 found an Exxon station near the intersection of Cottage Hill Road and Dawes Road selling gasoline at $1.75 a gallon.
Back in January, prices dipped around $1.78 in Mobile, but we are now approaching the lowest gasoline prices seen since April 2009. The lower gas prices are linked with the price of crude oil. Benchmark U.S. crude fell below $46 a barrel on Tuesday.
For all the “Back to the Future” fans, gasoline prices in 1989 hovered around $1.15 a gallon, and then dropped back under the one dollar mark in the 1990s.
