A big change is here for the Bay Area Food Bank. The food bank distributes 16 million pounds of food every year. Now they are changing their name to, “Feeding the Gulf Coast. Marketing director, Stephanie Snyder, says the name change is necessary, because they serve families from Mississippi to Florida, and not just in the Mobile Bay area. She also says, “People can refer to us as a food pantry, but we are doing more than handing out canned goods. We offer cooking classes, a school snack program, a backpack program, as well as a food stamp program.”
The new name, “Feeding the Gulf Coast,” will go into effect in January.
