The South Alabama Jaguars open their season with a win. Yesterday they hosted the Gardner Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The bulldogs took a 16-to-13 lead early in the 3rd quarter, but the jags would rally back to win 33-to-22.
Running back Xavier Johnson was a big part of the win. He rushed for 121 yards that included two big plays — a 56-yard touchdown reception and a 92-yard touchdown run. The Jags now hit the road for two tough games against Nebraska and San Diego State. Their next home game will be September 26th when they host North Carolina State.
