Two months after being shot in the face while sitting a stop light in Mobile, the victim in the crime received a major helping hand.
A GoFundMe page was set up for Maria Williamson after the shooting. Wednesday evening she received a check from the account, of nearly $10 thousand.
A benefit was also held to raise more money at her job, Mellow Mushroom.
“This is insane I watched people from all over the United States donate to this and it makes me so happy,” said Williamson.
Williamson was shot while sitting at a red light on June 28 at Dauphin and Monterey Streets. So far six people have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Williamson says she still was a ways to go with her recovery and medical expenses. The GoFundMe page will remain active for people still wishing to donate.
