Mobile, Alabama—The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center will close for just one week beginning Monday September 8, 2015 to make room for a new and exiting exhibition and redesign some gallery spaces. The popular Scratch Factory hands on gallery will be moved to a new location and augmented with new hands on exhibits.
One of the major projects during the week is managing the arrival and installation of Chocolate! The Exhibition that will open on Saturday, September 26.
This unique exhibition is coming to the Gulf Coast for the first time. It explores the rich natural and cultural history of chocolate tracing its origin in the rainforest to its status as a global economic commodity.
The Exploreum will reopen on Wednesday, September 16.
Living in the Age of Airplanes, a feature film examining how the airplane has changed our world, will debut in the J.J. Bedsole IMAX dome theatre September 16. The film, sponsored by Airbus, runs through April 15, 2016. The film includes scenes in 18 countries across all 7 continents and through stunning visuals, explores the many ways aviation affects our lives as one of the most extraordinary and awe-inspiring aspects of the modern world
