Following the release of the trailer for “Mississippi Grind,” hype is starting to build that Ryan Reynolds might have given the performance of his career.
Filmed in Mobile in 2014, “Mississippi Grind” tells the story of an unlucky gambler, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who has his fortune change upon meeting a young poker stud, played by Reynolds.
Most movies shot in Mobile in recent years haven’t enjoyed box office success, instead going straight to online outlets like Netflix. Among those films are “Rage” (formally known as “Tokarev”) starring Nicolas Cage and “The Prince” starring Bruce Willis.
“Mississippi Grind” is slated to hit theaters on September 25. It stars Mendelsohn, Reynolds and lead actress Sienna Miller.
