Board members discussed results of a 9 question survey Tuesday night. More than half of the people who responded believe the future superintendent should not come from within the Baldwin County School system and he or she should have previous experience as a superintendent.
Board members agreed to a nationwide search and also discussed raising the salary range to attract more qualified people. Right now the salary range is between 145 and 165 thousand dollars. “That’s really on the lower range of what superintendents for our system, of our size system make and I’m concerned that that is going to eliminate a lot of great candidates that maybe have that experience in funding and finances and growth and some of the challenges that we face”, said Board Member Shannon Cauley.
The board is hoping to hire the next superintendent by the end of August.
