½ pound of butter (a little extra to butter the pan)
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
2 cups of whole milk
2 ¾ cups of sugar
5 cups of fresh blackberries (rinsed and patted dry)
Melt the half pound of butter. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl mix flour, baking powder, Milk, and sugar until well blended. Add the melted butter and mix well. Butter your casserole dish.
Pour the batter into the casserole dish. Sprinkle the berries evenly over the batter. Top with a 1/3 cup of sugar.
Bake for one hour until crust is golden brown and berries are bubbly. Finish with a couple of tablespoons of sugar after you remove from oven.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
