A University of Mobile pitcher has been selected in the 2015 MLB Draft.
Corey Hale, a standout pitcher for the Rams, was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round.
Hale, a 6-7 senior, has enjoyed a breakout season at The University of Mobile, where he recently was named a First-Team NAIA Baseball All-American.
Hale is the program’s first First-Team selection since Kevin Orso in 2009 and the fourth overall. The Luverne, Ala., native led the NAIA with 14 wins and finished second with 124 strikeouts.
The lefthander finished 14-1 on the mound, with a 1.27 ERA and 124 strikeouts in 92.1 innings of action. Opponents hit only .189 against him.
