Bienville Square was once, one of the busiest areas in Downtown Mobile. Today it’s popularity has diminished, but now a new conservancy group hopes to bring back some of its former glory.
The newly formed Downtown Parks Conservancy, a group of volunteers from various background is now working to build up Bienville Square. The group says the park is underutilized and has the potential to be a better center for music, food, and other community events.
“It has so much opportunity for events other to come and sit, and enjoy the day. Things that we can offer in the park additionally besides its natural beauty,” said Leslie Goula, a founding member with the Conservancy.
Now it will work to solicit feedback to improve Bienville Square along with other parks downtown. The group is will be holding a meeting next Thursday from 5 to 7pm in Bienville Square. It’s geared towards local businesses, but everyone is invited.
