A 17-year-old driver from Pensacola has been arrested for allegedly killing a pedestrian and leaving the scene nearly two months ago.
Florida Highway Patrol say Corey Ryan Phelps was driving on New Warrington Road when a pedestrian fell down while trying to cross the roadway amidst oncoming traffic on April 10. Police say Phelps hit the pedestrian, later identified as 18-year-old Raheem Henderson, leading to his death.
The subsequent investigation would last seven weeks until Phelps was arrested at his home in Pensacola. He is charged with leaving the scene of a traffic crash involving death.
Phelps has been booked into the Escambia County Juvenile Detention Center.
